ACADEMY AWARDS

The Academy Awards, known as the Academy Awards, are a group of 24 awards presented annually by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in the field of motion pictures. The academy is based in Los Angeles, United States of America. In 2002, the organization had more than 6,000 members, all professionals in various specialties of cinema, namely producers, directors, actors, directors and image editors, sound engineers, as well as many others.

The awards, which consist of gilded replicas of the same statuette, also known informatively as the Oscars, are awarded in 24 different categories for various artistic and technical merits in the film industry, recognizing excellence from the previous year, as voted by members of the Academy.
